System Administrator

Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union is seeking a Full-Time System Administrator position. This position is responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operations of computer systems, such as servers and workstations. Works with users and vendors to troubleshoot hardware and software issues while maintaining knowledge of the ways people within the organization use various systems and applications. Seeks to ensure that the up-time, performance, resources, and security of the computers managed meet the needs of the organization and end users. Evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
Additionally, the System Administrator will install new software releases, system upgrades, system backups & recovery, provide routine automation, maintain security policies, and offer technical support for projects while maintaining the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, and PC's. This position will also ensure the successful integration of processes and methodologies to ensure performance of infrastructure systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor network infrastructure to ensure network is operating at optimal levels and reliably available to all system users in all business locations.
- Plans, coordinates and implements an effective network security strategy. Take/recommend proactive action when necessary.
- Administer and manage server and desktop environment to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems; monitor, maintain, and administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and other domain related management systems.
- Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing data center environments.
- Effectively apply operating system updates, patches and configuration changes adhering to organizational standards.
- Plans, coordinates and implements an effective network security strategy
- Provide support to users in operation of software and hardware. Complete licensing registrations for software and hardware purchases.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
- Perform routine audit of systems and software.
- Install and configure new hardware and software.
- Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Troubleshoot any reported problems. Escalate areas of concern as appropriate.
- Create and maintain procedures or support documentation for the department as needed.
- Interact with vendors, service providers, and contractors to maintain infrastructure services and products.
- Develop expert level knowledge of computer technology and suggest new ways to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Serve in a backup capacity to other roles in the IT Department including the IT Specialist as needed.
- Works well with others and as a team, to establish and maintain good working relationships with peers, supervisors, members and others. Consistently projects enthusiastic, positive, credible, knowledgeable image.
- Demonstrate enthusiastic support of the corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives. Performs job duties within established internal and external service standards, regulatory requirements, policies and work procedures.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology related field plus two (2) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.
Or
· Associate Degree in Information Technology related field plus four (4) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.
Or
· Six (6) years of experience as a Network Administrator or in an IT role with the same or similar job responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 years of relevant experience managing the technology infrastructure or IT role with the same of similar job responsibilities.
- Technology background, with experience in networking systems, LAN/WAN, Microsoft client and server operating systems, telephony systems and security appliances and methodologies. Relevant experience within a financial institution or financial institution software preferred.
- Proven ability to understand business needs and select/install appropriate technology solutions
- Broad technology knowledge
- Strong problem solving ability. Independently implement solutions to improve system performance or resolve outstanding issues.
- Proven ability to design, implement and maintain a reliable network with strong data security
- Proven ability to work successfully in a customer service driven environment.Consistently deliver an excellent service experience to internal customers.
- Proven ability to work with a team solve unique business problems with technology
